Mississippi Is...

Mississippi Is…

Mississippi and me

The Mississippi I know
and where I was born,
is full of tradition,
some that are new – some that are worn.
But the community of hospitality
and generosity we share,
magnify the meaning
of the words, "We care."
I enjoy summer breezes
in shade of the pines,
and fishing on the bayou,
while the sun still shines.
Oh, dear Mississippi
my thanks have no measure,
for "God" and what "you" stand for,
are what I treasure.
