Chocolate Mint Squares

First layer: 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup butter 1 cup flour 4 eggs 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 (16-oz.) can Hershey syrup Mint layer: 2 cups confectioners’ sugar 1/2 cup butter 2 Tbsp. mint extract Few drops green food coloring Topping: 6 oz. chocolate chips 6 Tbsp. butter


Mix ingredients for the first layer and pour into a greased 9-by-13-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Mix the mint-layer ingredients and spread over cooled cake. Melt and mix the chocolate chips and butter for topping; spread over the mint layer. Chill before cutting into 1-inch squares.
