Hot Fudge Sauce

4 squares semi-sweet chocolate
1 stick butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
1 large can evaporated milk
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract


Melt chocolate and butter over low heat. Add sugar and enough milk to make a liquid. Bring to a boil; add the rest of the milk and a pinch of salt. Bring back to a boil and cook 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract. Store unused sauce in the refrigerator.
