Ivy Mae’s Homemade Biscuits

1 1/4 cups Martha White self-rising flour, sifted
2/3 cup sweet milk or buttermilk
2 to 3 Tbsp. Crisco shortening, melted


Preheat oven to 475 degrees. Grease a small skillet or pan with shortening. Mix flour and milk in a bowl to right consistency. Add a few drops of milk if too thick, or a little more flour if too thin. Drop approximately 1 heaping tablespoon of biscuit dough into greased skillet or pan. Spoon at least a teaspoon or more melted shortening over top of biscuits. Take the back of a spoon and smooth top of biscuits. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
