Baked Ziti


One-Dish Meals


2 tsp. oil 3 garlic cloves, pressed 1 (28-oz.) can crushed tomatoes 3 cups water 1 (12-oz.) pkg. ziti or similar pasta 1/2 cup cream 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese 1/4 cup fresh basil or 2 tsp. dried basil Pepper to taste Mozzarella cheese


In a deep skillet, heat oil and garlic for about 30 seconds, or just until garlic becomes fragrant. Add tomatoes, water and pasta. Bring to a boil; cover and simmer 15 to 18 minutes. Check to see if most of water is gone and pasta is tender. Add cream, Parmesan cheese and basil, stirring well. Top with ample amount of mozzarella cheese. Bake uncovered at 475 degrees for 15 minutes. Note: This can be a one-dish meal if made in an oven-proof skillet. Italian sausage may be browned and added to the cheeses.
