Mom Peg’s Black-and-White Brownies

Breads & Desserts

1 (19- to 21-oz.) box fudge brownie mix 1 (10- to 12-oz.) pkg. white chocolate chips, divided 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 1/2 cup pecans, chopped Chocolate Frosting: 1 stick butter 4 Tbsp. cocoa 7 Tbsp. evaporated milk 3 to 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted 1 tsp. vanilla extract 3/4 cup pecans, chopped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9-by-13-inch baking pan. Prepare brownie mix according to directions on box. Stir in half the white chocolate chips, all the semi-sweet chocolate chips and the pecans. Spread batter in pan and bake about 30 minutes, or until center is set. While brownies are still hot, sprinkle with remaining white chocolate chips. Bake 1 minute. Cool in pan on wire rack. Chocolate Frosting: In a saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Add cocoa and stir until combined. Add milk and bring to a boil. Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar (enough to make a medium-thick frosting). Add vanilla. Pour over brownies and sprinkle with pecans. Cool 1 1/2 hours, or until frosting is set. Note: This frosting is especially good over any yellow, white or chocolate cake.
