Country Caramel Cobbler

1 stick butter
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
Chopped pecans for topping
1 1/2 cups hot water


Melt butter in a dish about 7 by 11 inches. Mix flour, sugar, milk and vanilla; pour on top of butter. Do not stir. Sprinkle brown sugar and pecans on top. Do not stir. Pour hot water on top. Bake at 350 F for 1 hour and 35 minutes.
