Ingredients

1 loaf French bread, cut into 20 slices 1 inch thick
Butter
8 large eggs
2 cups half-and-half
1 cup milk
2 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Dash of salt

Topping:
2 sticks butter, melted
1 cup packed light-brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
1 Tbsp. light corn syrup
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Instructions

Place sliced bread into generously buttered 9-by-13-inch dish, with 2 rows overlapping; set aside. Mix eggs, half-and-half, milk, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt with a rotary mixer on low speed, until well blended. Pour mixture over bread. Blend all topping ingredients. Spoon topping over bread mixture just prior to baking. Bake at 350 F for 40 minutes. Serve with maple syrup.
