With our annual Travel issue hitting mailboxes and online this month, I’m reminded why travel is so important to us.
It opens your eyes to new places, new foods, new cultures, and travel can help you grow as a person.
When you step out of your comfort zone, you create new memories.
Simply put, travel is good for the soul.
Travel doesn’t have to mean heading overseas to Paris, driving to Disney World, or flying to Las Vegas for a show. Although those kinds of trips are fine, popular choices, travel is not defined by the miles in between home and your destination.
Mississippi is our home. But Mississippi is also a bunch of different homes.
Day trips and weekend excursions inside our home state can be as fun and exciting as a vacation anywhere on the planet.
This year, we decided to go to Starkville
to check out what the land of the Bulldogs has to offer.
Now, I played football and graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi (To the Top! Golden Eagles forever!) But I will admit that a weekend or day trip to “Starkvegas” can be a whole lot of fun without ever stepping foot in Davis Wade Stadium.
Check out the Grant Presidential Library on campus, play pickleball at the city’s first indoor pickleball court, grab some barbecue at The Little Dooey, and then take a walk around the Cotton District.
