The Farmhouse Kitchen: Kicking off for a sweet summer

By Vicki Leach

Is your calendar full for the summer yet? Mine is. If you are like me, you began back in December planning for camps and vacations and spent January and February planning for gardens and flower beds, then prayed through early spring that the all-over-the-map Mississippi weather wouldn’t be quite as all-over-the-map as it usually is. But May…. May is that anticipation time, that “we’re almost there” time when all the plans begin to come together. It’s the kickoff time to sandals and shorts, salads and ice cream, and all those glorious long summer days to come. Kick off this month by planning for those backyard gatherings and potlucks with a crowd-pleasing dessert.
