Beulah’s Famous Fried Chicken

Ingredients

2 fryers (2 1/2 lbs. each) 1 1/2 quarts buttermilk Tabasco 6 cups all-purpose flour 2 tsp. salt 2 T. pepper 2 lbs. shortening

Instructions

Cut the chicken into serving-size pieces. Soak the chicken overnight in the buttermilk and several dashes of Tabasco. Combine the flour, salt and pepper. Pour flour mixture in a large brown paper bag. Drop a few pieces of chicken into the bag at a time, and shake. In a large black iron Dutch oven, heat shortening to 350 degrees F. Fry the pieces for 18 minutes, turning them every 3 or 4 minutes. R
