Today in Mississippi took home two major design awards this week from the 2026 National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Statewide Editors Association Institute.
The conference was held in Pittsburgh from Aug. 2 to Aug. 5 and put on by the Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association.
Today in Mississippi won first place in the Best Feature Design category for the May 2026 cover story on writer Eudora Welty and the re-release of her photography book, “One Time One Place.”
The monthly statewide magazine also won second place in the Best Overall Magazine Design category.
The design team is led by Creative Director Alan Burnitt.
“Our team has amazing talent, and they work hard for the Electric Cooperatives of Mississippi (ECM) day in and day out,” said ECM Vice President of Communications Lydia Walters.
“I’m just honored to work alongside these incredible artists,” said Today in Mississippi Editor Steven Ward.
Today in Mississippi is ECM’s statewide monthly magazine.
