A strange new land to explore,
never thought of Mississippi before.
Now I’m here,
tasting the catfish and beer.
Meeting neighbors and making friends,
I like all of the trees and love the way the roads bend.
Mostly in church on Sundays, of course,
singing the beautiful old hymns til I’m hoarse.
Lots of new critters I must endure,
but if I watch my step, I will not need a cure.
I think I’ll stay a while in this muggy, hot place,
will tell the snow up north I’ll be late.
